1. Administration

The Innovation Field operates under the dual administration system of the University and the College of Design and Innovation, with the director of the centre taking charge of the operation: The director is supervised by the laboratory management office of Tongji University, focuses on talent education and is fully responsible for the planning, construction and management of the Innovation Field.

2. Operation system and norms

In order to protect the safety of faculty and students and property, to create and maintain a good, clean, healthy, orderly learning environment, the Innovation Field has developed a set of safety management rules, and introduced the Innovation Field Faculty and Student Handbook, stating clearly the access system rules, opening hours, reservation system and general equipment information etc. The laboratory equipment operating standards have been compiled for the guidance for large equipment operation and daily experiments.

3. Equipment maintenance, updating and management

The university issues operating funds every year for experimental teaching, and the College supplements the operating funds of the Innovation Field from the financial budget, which are mainly used for the daily operation, equipment maintenance and updating of the Innovation Field. The management of the centre is institutionalized and standardized according to the laboratory management rules. All equipment of the laboratories is registered and managed by special personnel. The responsible persons and large equipment keepers keep the maintenance of devices and keep records of their condition. An inventory team is organized once each year to conduct an inspection, reporting devices that are lost or should be scrapped and follow corresponding procedures. The laboratories keep the maintenance and repairing work of the equipment in their daily operation.
