The Digital Fabrication Workshop is made up of the Digital Additive Manufacturing Centre, Digital Subtractive Processing Centre, and the Robotic Arm Lab.
The Digital Additive Manufacturing Centre features a complete range of 3D printers from desktop to industrial-grade, enabling multi-size, multi-precision and multi-material 3D printing. By investigating and acquiring various printing technologies and materials from an internationally advanced level, a 3D printing cluster covering high, medium and low ends is formed, and on the basis of a comprehensive survey of additive printing technology, the construction of 3D printing experimental teaching courses is strengthened to convey the full system of technologies to students and teachers through experimental teaching, establishing the centre’s leading position in the field.

The Digital Subtractive Processing Centre is headed by workshop technician Zhang Ying and is equipped with CNC machining centre, woodworking CNC cutting machine, laser engraving machine, 4-axis engraving machine, vacuum machine among other equipment, which can complete the cutting, engraving and other processing tasks of a variety of materials in the experimental teaching process.
The Robotic Arm Lab is equipped with a full set of CNC robotic equipment, and under the concept of Industry 4.0, the lab conducts experimental teaching related activities based on digital design and manufacturing, fully combined with design, art and other creative work. The lab focuses on two directions of intelligent manufacturing and interactive design. By training students’ digital technology skills and systematic thinking, the lab facilitates an integrated process from design to manufacturing and connects virtual platforms to real objects, allowing students to give full play to their imagination and put it into practice.
